Born in Bratislava, Maok is a musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer of film and theater music. His strong and soft voice, accompanied by a gentle guitar playing, transport the listener to times of long past, and even to a trance.
Martin Maok Tesák started out as a guitarist in the alternative rock band Volvic Pič in Bratislava, which, although they never recorded an official album, came to the attention of listeners thanks to a concert by the legendary Collegium Musicum, for which they acted as frontrunners. Martin has been performing under the stage name Maok for more than 15 years now, creates improvised music with ethnic and experimental elements. He has already released 20 albums on Bandcamp, composed the music for the film Báthory, and cooperated with natural scientist Tomáš Hulík and traveler Pavel Barabáš. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, he composes music for theatre and dance productions and also performs on his own.
