Zlata Holušová (CZE)

Founder of Colours of Ostrava

Founder of multiple festivals and, for 25 years, the director of Colours of Ostrava. A curator, a visionary, a connector of cultures, ideas, and emotions.

Zlata Holušová is a prominent figure in the Czech cultural scene and the founder of the international music festival Colours of Ostrava, which, under her leadership, has grown over 25 years into one of the most respected and visited festivals in Central Europe. Her work goes beyond music — she creates spaces for dialogue, openness, and the search for deeper meaning in both art and society.

She began her career as a documentary filmmaker and music journalist, and through her vision, courage, and sensitivity, she transformed the industrial complex of Dolní Vítkovice into a vibrant cultural organism. Under her guidance, Colours is not just a festival — it is a social phenomenon that brings hundreds of artists, thinkers, and visitors from around the world to Ostrava.

In addition to the main program, she created Meltingpot, a discussion forum that connects artists, scientists, philosophers, and visionaries across disciplines. Her focus on values, depth, and authenticity makes her work truly exceptional.

Zlata Holušová has become the soul of the festival — a woman constantly searching, connecting, and discovering new horizons across cultures.
