Monika Zavřelová (CZE)

Journalist, Head of Culture Desk, iDNES.cz

She interviewed Madeleine Albright, Brad Pitt, and many others. Since 2015, Monika Zavřelová has been interviewing leading figures from both the Czech and international cultural scene. That same year, she joined the culture desk of iDNES.cz and MF DNES, which she has led since autumn 2021.

She has interviewed hundreds of public figures, both on camera and in private. Among her most memorable moments are interviews with Antonio Banderas in Málaga, Tom Felton and Hans Zimmer in London, and John Malkovich in Berlin. Milestones also include meetings with animation legends Matt Groening (The Simpsons) and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) in Los Angeles.

Thanks to frequent foreign travels, she regularly reports from Hollywood film sets and major festivals such as Cannes and Venice. Her weekly interview series runs on iDNES.cz and is shared across social media. She also contributes to Magazín DNES and previously to the monthly City Life. As a moderator, she hosts public talks, book launches, and film premieres – including those of Tereza Ramba, Jiří Mádl, and Vojtěch Vrtiška.

She began writing about culture as a teenager, first on fan websites, later gaining experience in the newsroom of Echo24.cz. She holds a degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University.
