Michael has been the Director of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences since 2017, where he has worked since 2000. His research focuses on astroparticle physics and astronomy, particularly on ultra-high-energy cosmic rays, detector calibration, and gravitational wave detection.
He is an active member of major international scientific collaborations, including the Pierre Auger Observatory, the Cherenkov Telescope Array, and the Vera Rubin Observatory. He is also involved in the development of the LISA space mission. In addition to teaching and supervising students, he actively promotes science through media and the Astropis Society.
