Jan Cibulka is a well-known figure in the Czech online space, particularly within the data journalism community. Beyond interpreting data, he actively educates the public about safe online practices through his articles on iROZHLAS.cz and frequent public lectures.
He is the co-author of the podcast series Cookies, focused on internet safety, as well as the show Antivirus, which warns about the dangers of the digital world. A strong advocate for open access to data and information, he often challenges institutions on transparency issues — notably siding with the Constitutional Court in a legal dispute with the Czech Police. He reports on developments around the so-called "disinfo law" with a focus on its legal and professional implications.
Jan closely monitors and explains trends in healthcare, justice, and environmental data, and sheds light on the risks of institutional misuse of personal data. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was a key voice at Czech Radio interpreting pandemic data. He also co-develops an innovative election-tracking app that visualizes real-time election progress and results online. In 2023, he received the Journalism Quail Award for outstanding journalists under 33. His on-stage presence is backed by tireless behind-the-scenes work.
