Evelina focuses on AI research for cybersecurity applications and currently primarily on AI agent and LLM research. She is interested in using AI to promote digital freedom, enabling people to feel safe and in control of their online environment despite new threats such as misinformation and manipulation on social media.
She holds a PhD in computational statistics from the University of Cambridge, where she also worked as a postdoctoral fellow using machine learning methods in biomedical research. Prior to joining Gen, Evelina was a Senior Research Data Scientist at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. There she led a number of applied machine learning projects ranging from air traffic control automation, to digital twin research, to large-scale evaluation of large-scale language models.
Evelina is also a former Vice President of the British Society for Software Engineering Research, where she was dedicated to supporting and promoting the role of software and software professionals in science and academic research.
