Chae Kyoung-Sun is a renowned Korean creative director and production designer, recognized for crafting the distinctive visual style of the global phenomenon Squid Game. As the lead production designer, she developed an original visual language that blends childhood games with dark, surreal aesthetics inspired by the works of M.C. Escher and René Magritte.
Collaborating closely with director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, she translated his personal memories and vision into unforgettable game environments that powerfully underscore themes of competition and human nature.
In addition to Squid Game, Chae has contributed to notable Korean films such as Silenced, Miss Granny, and The Fortress, where her keen eye for detail and innovative approach to production design have significantly enhanced the visual identity of these projects.
