Viktor Heumann (CZE)

Founder of Transparent

At the beginning of his own transition, due to the lack of support services for trans and non-binary people in the Czech Republic, Viktor founded Transparent, an organization that has been providing peer support for nine years now, and is dedicated to raising awareness and improving the image of trans people in the Czech media.

Currently, as the chairman of the association, he is mainly engaged in advocacy activities aimed at improving the conditions and acceptance of trans people in Czech society, such as removing the condition of surgery for official gender recognition. Viktor also works as an expert consultant on projects of the Czech National Institute of Mental Health aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of medical and therapeutic care for trans people.
He has co-authored several academic and research papers on the lives of trans and non-binary people in the country, and has lectured on this topic for education, health, psychotherapy and social work. In 2023, he received an award for his advocacy work from the Czech Government Commissioner for Human Rights, Klara Šimáčková Laurenčíková.
