Professor Roman Hájek is a world-renowned expert in the fight against multiple myeloma, the second most common blood cancer.
He is the head of the Department of Haemato-oncology at the University Hospital Ostrava, a professor of oncology and at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava he teaches courses focused on cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology with an emphasis on processes related to the origin and development of cancer.
From 2015 to 2023, he served as Vice-Rector for Development and Strategy at the University of Ostrava. He is a major contributor to the implementation of the Life Environment Research Center Ostrava project - a unique scientific research centre focused on biomedical, natural and behavioural sciences.
