Czech Television correspondent in Warsaw

 

In the early hours of Thursday 24 February 2022, Russia invaded neighbouring Ukraine and Andreas Papadopoulos became a war reporter overnight. The native of Ostrava was one of the few reporters to eyewitness the Russian aggression directly from Kiev. In the same year, he became a permanent correspondent for Czech TV in Warsaw.

 

 

Andreas spent many months in the invaded country, in the immediate vicinity of the front line. He participated in the writing of the book Putin's War, and is co-author of Zápasící Ukrajina (Battling Ukraine).

He studied Economics at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and Journalism at Charles University in Prague. He has worked in the foreign news department of Czech Television since 2017. He has reported in almost twenty countries around the world, including making a documentary about the fall of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu during the 1989 revolution.
This year, he was ranked in Forbes magazine's 30 under 30 list of young talent.
