Petr Jančárek (CZE)

Film director, cameraman and professor of Silesian University

Although Petr's portfolio contains several dozen film works, he is most famous for being a personal filmmaker to President Václav Havel in the years 2003—2011. This collaboration resulted in the trilogy Václav Havel, Praha-Hrad and the feature-length documentary Tady Havel, slyšíte mě?

Petr was also one of the founding members of the organization Člověk v tísni, and is now a member of its board of directors. His deep interest in human rights led him to many war or ideological conflict zones (Hong Kong, Lebanon, Kosovo, Cuba, Israel, Palestine), he was also an active participant in a number of humanitarian missions (Sarajevo, Bosnia, Chechnya). The last screenwriting and directing work of this winner of many awards and prizes for his films, including the Ferdinand Peroutka Journalism Award, was the documentary War Reporters, broadcasted on Czech TV this February.
