Michal Stehlík (CZE)

Historian

Michal is a historian, and Slovakist. He deals with the topic of Czech-Slovak relations, the twists and turns of communist Czechoslovakia, and general teaching about history. He is the author of several books and exhibitions.

For the second decade now, Michal has been teaching at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, where he was Dean between 2006 and 2014. He divides his world between the university and the museum —he is currently part of the management of the Czech National Museum. He focuses on history in the public space and topics of cultural heritage, museology.
He discovers the world with astonishment, among other things, through the eyes of his eight children.
