„I have a special writing cycle, somewhat influenced by nature. I usually think about a book for a year, make notes, collect material, and then write it in half a year. I work most after Christmas, when I eat well, drink enough, have a lot of energy, and I start to pound the book.“
One of the most translated Czech writers has published a total of 15 books: novels, novellas and short stories. The novels Santini's Tongue and Hastrman have been made into films, and Hastrman won the Magnesia Litera Award.
