Jakub does sports fishing and travels around the world to fish. He makes documentary films, takes photos, and writes books on his travels. He also hosts a series about fishing for children based on his own themes and scenarios. For example, his show S Jakubem na rybách (Fishing with Jakub) is well-known.

The internationally recognized professional sports fisherman has been publishing in professional fishing journals since he was fifteen, not only in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. At the age of seventeen, he made his first fishing film about catfish hunting.
He was the first Czech person to promote sports fishing in the media, he supports the "catch and release" method. He has made several travel fishing films, which are regularly broadcast on Czech and Slovak national television. He has prepared a series for children with Czech Television called S Jakub na rybách and the shows Jakubova rybářská školička (Jakub's Fishing School) and S Jakubem do světa (Around the World with Jakub).
He has many fishing records recognized by the IGFA world fishing organization. In 2010, he published a great narrative book about the life and hunting of catfish called Můj přítel sumec (My Friend the Catfish). In 2012, his book Můj život s rybami (My Life with Fish) was published, accompanied by beautiful photographs.
Jakub has his own one-hour television show on the National Geographic Channel called Fish Warrior. After the release of the first episodes in the US, Jakub appeared on the popular American talk show Tonight With Jay Leno, where the presenter invites prominent individuals, including, for example, former President Barack Obama. Fish Warrior is now being broadcast not only in the US, but also throughout Europe.
The series Rybí legendy (Fish Legends), originally filmed for Czech Television, has also sparked the interest of foreign television channels. Both seasons have been purchased by Discovery Channel, which broadcast the first episode this June. Further episodes will be created in the co-production of Czech Television and Discovery Channel. Fish legends documents the world's largest freshwater fish.
