Research Director at Notpla

 

Louise is the Head of research at Notpla, a company which creates truly sustainable packaging solutions from seaweed and plants that disappear naturally, giving consumers the convenience of single-use, without the plastic waste.

 

Louise is a Chartered Chemist with a PhD in materials science (QMUL) and a Master’s degree in chemistry from University College London. She has worked across multiple research industries, including waterproofing coatings for electronics and colour changing hair dyes. In 2021, she joined Notpla with the ambition to harness nature for the creation of truly sustainable packaging materials that can eliminate plastic.
Winner of the prestigious Earthshot Prize, Notpla are famed for their edible liquid packaging called Ooho, their takeaway box coating and single-use film sachet replacements. To date, their solutions have already replaced 2.8 million pieces of single-use plastic from entering our environment.
