Lilia has travelled almost half of the world. She has lived in faraway New Delhi, Tunisia, Bhutan and many European countries.

 

 

Lilia was born into a Tatar family as the eldest of five siblings. She grew up in the Czech Republic, France, the UK and the USA. She studied Political Science and History at Oxford University and then continued with Gender & Development at the London School of Economics. Her professional activities are equally remarkable. She is an entrepreneur, publicist and initiator of outreach programmes. Lilia has long been involved in women's, partnership and reproductive issues, has coordinated a number of projects and is the author of five successful books on women's issues. As part of her brand Ecstatic, she supports charity and development projects in a number of destinations. She is also a passionate traveller and the love of her life is the mysterious Bhutan, where she has returned at least once a year for the past decade and a half and where she has worked under the patronage of The Queen Mother.
Last but not least, Lilia is the wife of mathematician Karel Janeček and a mother of three children.
