Věra Jourová coordinates the European Democracy Action Plan, which addresses threats of external interference, and has a long-standing commitment to fighting disinformation while preserving freedom of speech, freedom of the press and media pluralism. It also manages the EU accession process to the European Convention on Human Rights and monitors the implementation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
She has been a Member of Parliament since 2013 and became Minister for Regional Development a year later. She was European Commissioner for Justice, Consumer Protection and Gender Equality from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, Time magazine ranked her among the 100 most influential people in the world.
