Martina has been with Doctors Without Borders since 2015, when she worked in Tanzania in the Nyarugusu refugee camp during the cholera epidemic.
She then spent three months in war-torn Yemen, and on her third mission she worked in a hospital in Mosul, Iraq. Her fourth mission took her to north-eastern Syria. On her last mission to date, in a hospital in the Nigerian city of Maiduguri, she trained and supervised medical staff. Martina studied anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities at Charles University. In the Czech Republic, she works at the cardiac surgery clinic at the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady in Prague.
