As a journalist she has travelled through Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She is the co-author of several award-winning Czech Press Photo reports.
Markéta started in 2012 as an editor at the newspaper Lidové noviny. She has worked in various African and Asian countries, and founded the mission of Člověk v Tísni (People in Need) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For the last eight years she has been documenting the war with the Islamic State and the war in Syria. Together with journalist and photographer Lenka Klicperová, they have made thirteen trips to Syria and five to Iraq. They also documented the Turkish invasion of Syria in 2019, reported on the war in Libya and covered the Nagorno-Karabakh war on the ground. In March of this year, Markéta spent two weeks in Ukraine. Her reportages are mainly broadcast on the programme Reporters of Czech Television. However, she cooperates with many Czech and foreign media. Another one of her topics is migration to Europe – she regularly follows the Balkan and Libyan migration routes. Markéta is the co-author of six books.
