Marka is a versatile artist who abounds with talent in the fields of stage, visual and musical arts.
She graduated in puppetry from the Department of Dramatic Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, majoring in directing and dramaturgy, and worked as a dramaturge, scriptwriter and director at the Minor Theatre. She sang and played the piano and bass guitar in the band Dybbuk, and later in Zuby nehty, with which she recorded several albums. She is also a dubbing director and a puppeteer. She is the principal of the association Loutky v nemocnici (Puppets in Hospital), writes and directs plays for this ensemble, composes songs and participates in the ensemble's activities in hospitals and sanatoriums.
She is the author of almost two dozen books, including Mrakodrapy (Skyscrapers) (2012), Škvíry (Crevices) (2014), Jonáš spěchá domů (Jonas Rushes Home) (2015, based on a theme by artist Radoslav Valeš) and Pán a vrabec (The Man and the Sparrow) (2017). She has four Magnesia Literary Award nominations to her credit. Škvíry won the Golden Ribbon for illustrations by Tereza Ščerbová.
