He is a Culture and heritage manager, and a civil servant, former Director of the Museum in Gliwice and Silesian Museum (Muzeum Śląskie) in Katowice. Director of the Polish Year in Austria 2002-2003; lecturer at the University of Silesia from 2007 onwards. He has been a member of numerous museum councils and advisory bodies in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Leszek currently works as a publisher and museum expert to MUSEum+ Project as Head of the Unit for Strategy and Development.
He is a scholarship holder of the universities of Amsterdam, Heidelberg and Tokyo, and the holder of various distinctions for achievements in the field of museum activities. He has also been contributing to Gazeta Wyborcza Katowice since 2013, and has written books devoted to the Silesian heritage and its legacy: Citizens of Gliwice in festive photography. Portrait of the inhabitants of Gleiwitz (Krakow 2019 and 2020) and Empty chairs. Stories of Jews from Silesia (Kraków-Gliwice 2020 and 2021). The latter was recognized by Internet users as the best history book of 2021 in a contest organized by portals Histmag.org and Granice.pl.
