As a teenager, he dreamed of his own bar, and today he is the uncrowned king of inventive gastronomy around Brno, the second largest city of the Czech Republic. It all started with a drink he sold at a Christmas market with his friend Andrej Vališ. It became so popular with customers that they decided to start a business together. Jan took inspiration from his overseas travels, being fascinated by New York and its cocktail culture. This was the main inspiration for his “Bar that Doesn’t Exist”, which opened in 2012 and immediately filled up. Then came other ideas and new businesses – Super Panda Circus, 4rooms, Delight, The Whiskey Bar that Doesn’t Exist, or a summer pop-up bar. Jan also came up with an experimental concept for the Anybody Hotel, where the stay is combined with an experience of film roles. He also has plenty of other ideas for the future.
Forbes magazine included him in the list of young entrepreneurs "30 under 30" in 2017, and now he is one of the Innovators 20, i.e. people who came up with the greatest innovations in 2020 with a desire to change (not only) the Czech Republic.
Jan has brought together 150 colleagues from the field and founded an initiative called “People from the Bar” who are an endless source of ideas on how to improve the hospitality business.
