A journalist, writer, reporter and passionate traveler. The author of seven books that focus on the same questions regarding the meaning of life, death and kindness. He has traveled to more than 40 countries around the world and in 1992 he founded the Czech geographical magazine Koktejl. Josef speaks openly about his inner and outer journeys - to the shamans of the rainforest, to his inner self in an alcohol rehab center - or about the only night when he became deeply religious.
In 2005, after a devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia, he participated in the Czech Red Cross humanitarian mission to the affected areas of Aceh and Siberut. It is the small Indonesian island of Siberut where Josef returns on his travels. He got charmed by the tropical rainforest, Mentawai indigenous tribe and local shamanic healers.
Currently, Josef is mainly a writer. His autobiographical novel about the alcohol rehab was turned into a movie two years ago and a new one is coming to Czech cinemas later this year.
