Lecture in language
A play about two pre-war film stars who were called ‘Germans’
whores’ by their fellow citizens after WWII. A play by one by
the most appreciated contemporary Czech playwrights about
Mandlová and Baarová, about those who loved and hated
them, and making punning reference in Czech to the meaning
of their names (Mandlová from the Czech word ‘mandle’ meaning
almond, and Baarová being linked to the word ‘bar’).
A play about the Czechs. A play about us?
