The surname Stránský occurs in the history of Czech politics and journalism. Professor Martin Jan, neurologist, who was born and grew up in New York, continues in the footsteps of his lineage. He is the former Czech shadow Minister for Health. He is currently specializing in the neurophysiological function of the brain, especially in the areas of memory and consciousness. He is exploring the fundamental effects of human thinking and technology on the human brain, including its ability to learn.
