A highly respected member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Science, University of Hradec Kralove, a former President and current Vice-president of the Czech Physical Society, a member of the Presidium of the Union of Czech Mathematicians and a Chairwoman of the Czech Science Foundation which supports researchers in the area of elementary research in the Czech Republic. In 2015 she received the Milada Paulová Prize in Physics from the Czech Ministry of Education.
Alice graduated in Nuclear Physics. Since then she was employed at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University. From 1973 she went on a long-term internship in the United Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna (USSR) where she defended her dissertation in 1980 and then returned to her workplace in Prague. In 1987, she started working on the experiment H1 built on the HERA electron and proton accelerator in DESY, Hamburg. In 2001 she received the title DrSc. (the Czech Equivalent of Research Professor). She has been on a number of foreign internships in Finland, the UK and spent more than two years in Germany.
She has actively participated in many foreign conferences. She has also led students and their final thesis. Since 2005, she has worked actively in various evaluation teams of the Czech Science Foundation, either as a member of the panel, the chairwoman of the panel or the chairwoman of the Department Committee of the Science of Inanimate Nature. Between 2012 and 2017 she was a member of the evaluation panel of the European Research Council in Brussels.
