Lecture in language
A political thinker who contributed to the renewal of the right-wing intellectual tradition in France in the 1970s. Being a prolific writer he examined a variety of philosophical and social topics including religion, globalisation, human rights, capitalism, German philosophy or environmental issues. He has been consistent in his criticism of the liberal mainstream thinking.
In his recent works he has acknowledged the contributions of both the right-wing and left-wing tradition of social thinking and deconstructed some of the divisions between these two traditions. Alain was at the foundation of the Research and Study Group for European Civilization (GRECE, Groupement de Recherche et d’Etudes pour la Civilisation Européenne) and is editor of the Krisis and Nouvelle Exile revues. A number of reviews of his work and interviews with him are available in Czech, as well as his books Totalitarism and On Being a Pagan.
