With almost 3 decades of journalist experience Tim has covered international news mostly from the Middle East. He worked as a reporter for BBC and CNN networks. He has lived and worked in the Middle East, in Afghanistan and Pakistan. During his 13-year tenure with the BBC, he helped launch BBC World Television and as vice-president of CNN, he planned and directed all news coverage by the network from 1998-2002. Most recently, Mr. Lister produced and co-wrote the award-winning CNN documentary, "Between Hope and Fear: Journeys in Iraq".
He is a co-author of Agent Storm: My Life inside al Qaeda for the CIA (2014) revealing the dramatic destiny of a man who managed to break free from radical ideology. This book has been translated into 15 languages. He also co-authored recently published Nine Lives: My Time As MI6's Top Spy Inside al-Qaeda (2018) capturing Al-Qaeda through the eyes of one of its founders who later became a spy of British secret intelligence service.
He is now an independent writer and producer.
