Olga Šilhová

Freelance publicist and documentarist.

She is the founding member and the chairman of the Femisphera Society which has been documenting the lives of women in developing countries since 2008. The topics that she addresses include the status of women in problematic areas, sexual violence or female circumcision. She worked for example in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Cameroon, Chad, Iraq and India. She is the co-author of successful documentary films ‘Tears of Congo’ and ‘Latim – Circumcised but Unbroken’. She has participated in a number of TV reports and cooperates with Czech Radio. She is a co-author of books titled ‘Africa in us’ and ‘Africa in us II’’. Together with the Femisphery team she won the first prize in the Czech Press Photo competition 2015 for an online feature report on victims of acid attacks in India.
