Martin Strakoš

Expert in the History of Architecture at the National Heritage Institute of Ostrava

Martin Strakoš is a historian who focuses on the architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries. He currently works at the National Heritage Institute of Ostrava. In his research, he particularly focuses on the question of inserting contemporary buildings in historic environments. He is well known for his popular architectural walks, which he organizes in cities throughout the Czech Republic. He also engages in the Ostrava Beautification Association, “Za krásnou Ostravu.” In addition to professional publications, Strakoš has published books for the wider public, including Interiors of Ostrava (2011) and Interiors of Opava (2015).
